![]() TCU wasn’t dominant in the win over Houston. Maybe TCU is still a Big 12 contender: It isn’t that TCU is great, or even as good as last year, but the Horned Frogs might be a Big 12 contender again in 2023 because someone must contend with Texas and Oklahoma before they ride off to the SEC, right? RIGHT? The Week 1 loss to Colorado doesn’t look as bad in the rear-view mirror considering the play of the Buffs and the fact that the Horned Frogs had no clue what was coming as the first team to play Deion Sanders’ group. The Horned Frogs extended the streak to nine wins with a resounding 36-13 win over Houston. TCU (2-1) entered the Week 3 contest on an eight-game winning streak against the Cougars, including the five non-conference games between the two schools this century. Houston (1-2) won that first meeting, and the first eight games. The two teams played each other every season from 1976, when Houston officially joined the SWC as a football program, through 1995 when TCU and the Cougars were left out of the original Big 12. Nostalgia filled the air as the Houston hosted long-lost Southwest Conference foe, TCU, in the Cougars’ first ever game as a Big 12 program. Not even a midday downpour could spoil the Third Ward party. Horned Frogs too much for Houston in Cougars Big 12 debut
![]() There were however, important theoretical and technical developments. Fullerĭuring the 1920s, a very limited number of tanks were produced. įollowing the First World War, the technical and doctrinal aspects of armoured warfare became more sophisticated and diverged into multiple schools of doctrinal thought. Fuller, who envisaged using the expected vast increase in armour production during 1919 to execute deep strategic penetrations by mechanised forces consisting of tanks and infantry carried by trucks, supported by aeroplanes, to paralyse the enemy command-structure. An exception, on paper, was the Plan 1919 of the British Army's Colonel J. Strategic use of tanks developed only slowly during and immediately after World War I, partly due to these technical limits but also due to the prestige role traditionally accorded to horse-mounted cavalry. In practice, tank warfare during most of World War I was hampered by the technical immaturity of the new weapon system, limiting speed, operational range, and reliability, and a lack of effective armoured tactics. ![]() ![]() The manoeuvrability of the tank should at least in theory regain armies the ability to flank enemy lines. Though in the Battle of Cambrai a large concentration of British heavy tanks effected a breakthrough, it was not exploited by armour. Theoretical debate largely focused on the question of whether to use a "swarm" of light tanks for this, or a limited number of potent heavy vehicles. The tank's main tasks were seen as crushing barbed-wire and destroying machine-gun nests, facilitating the advance of foot soldiers. Tactically, deployment plans for armour during the war typically placed a strong emphasis on direct support for infantry. Nonetheless, World War I saw the first tank-versus-tank battle, during the Second Battle of Villers-Bretonneux in April 1918, when a group of three German A7V tanks engaged a group of three British Mark IV tanks which they met accidentally.Īfter the final German spring offensives of 21 March to 18 July 1918, the Entente deployed tanks en masse at the Battle of Soissons (18 to 22 July 1918) and Battle of Amiens (August 1918), which ended the stalemate imposed by trench warfare on the Western Front, and thus effectively ended the war. Twenty German A7V tanks were produced during the entire conflict, compared to over 4,400 French and over 2,500 British tanks of various kinds. The German Empire, on the contrary, produced only a few tanks, late in the war. ![]() This led to a sharp increase in the number of available tanks for 1918. ĭespite the generally unpromising beginnings, the military and political leadership in both Britain and France during 1917 backed large investment into armoured-vehicle production. In the Battle of Cambrai (November to December 1917) British tanks were more successful, and broke a German trenchline system, the Hindenburg Line. The first French employment of tanks, on 16 April 1917, using the Schneider CA, also failed to live up to expectations. British Mark I tanks first went into action at the Somme on 15 September 1916, but did not manage to break the deadlock of trench warfare. The developers of tanks aimed to return manoeuvre to warfare, and found a practical way to do so: providing caterpillar traction to machine guns allowing them to overcome trenches, while at the same time offering them armour protection against small arms as they were moving.īritain and France first developed tanks in 1915 as a way of navigating the barbed wire and other obstacles of no-man's land while remaining protected from machine-gun fire. Under these conditions, attacks usually advanced very slowly and incurred massive casualties. Strategists wanted to break the tactical, operational and strategic stalemates forced on commanders on the Western Front by the effectiveness of entrenched defensive infantry armed with machine guns – known as trench warfare. Modern armoured warfare began during the First World War of 1914–1918. ![]() Surfshark also has apps for Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, Firestick, and a variety of other devices. In the absence of employee time clocks, payroll management can be tedious and cumbersome for the HR department. That’s a hard one, but the next time you’re at a busy cafe or restaurant waiting for someone, do this. Payroll integration also helps to comply with labor laws and ensure that employees are getting paid correctly for the number of hours worked. Time clock software can be integrated with payroll software, making it much easier for HR managers to calculate and pay salaries. This ensures that there are no productivity or efficiency issues within the workforce. The punch-in data can also provide evidence to confront irregular and unpunctual employees. An adequate time and attendance management software ensure that workers are honest with their shifts and working when they’re supposed to be. The employee time clock is also necessary to ensure that employees work only the specified hours and not more. Timekeeping devices help HR managers to keep track of employees and to ensure that they are not spending too much time here and there while at work, such as taking a too long lunch break or frequent breaks in between. ![]() It helps workers and managers know when they start working and when they finish. Time and attendance clocks are necessary for an accurate representation of the shift. Portability is another issue as these biometric attendance systems are in a fixed position and need dedicated hardware with sensors to read the feature (fingerprint, iris, retina, etc.) and record attendance. For instance, workers’ fingers are usually covered in dirt or oil in the mining industry, making it hard to punch in. However, biometric time and attendance clocks are not suitable for every industry. Another benefit is that workers don’t have to remember code or carry a punch card. Organizations prefer biometric fingerprint employee time clocks because they can prevent buddy punching and any other time theft frauds. The clock marks the attendance and punch-in time if the match is accurate. Workers put their fingers on a scanner that identifies them by matching them with the fingerprint data stored in the database. ![]() ![]() The fingerprint time clock is the most common type of biometric clock used in companies. In this article, we will learn everything about time and attendance clocks and how companies use them to their advantage.Ī biometric time clock uses a person’s human traits, such as fingerprint, Iris, thumb impression, etc., to record the attendance and shift timing. It eliminates the burden of the managers and supervisors manually recording, collecting, and verifying employee attendance.įurthermore, these systems can be integrated into the payroll software, streamlining the entire process. Systems like employee time clocks allow workers to input and manage their hours. Such an approach uses valuable time and too many resources to ensure company policies are followed and workers are paid correctly. This usually involves manually tracking employee timesheets, calculating overtime hours, and converting minutes to hours before the salary can be calculated. HR managers are responsible for meticulously streamlining the payroll process.Īutomatic attendance systems like Truein enable businesses to simplify payroll and automate workforce management, but many companies still rely on traditional attendance-keeping methods.
